Day 3

  • by

I have updated the page that advises on the best heat pump solution, but I need to be sure it is giving the correct advice. At the moment for me it would take 6 years to pay off an air to water heat pump using the savings made from my energy bill and this is only if I had the grant. I think this is because my house is already energy efficient and the heat pump would not be working hard. But for somebody with a less efficient house, the same pump would be working harder to save them more in bills. It doesn’t look like it would be worth it for me as I am planning to move house before 6 years. So I need to look into if it would also add value to the house and if it can easily be switched back to gas.

All these questions need to be answered by the app, so I will continue to make it more helpful today. Another thing to consider is that gas prices are likely to rise and gas is not something the uk produces. But would there be any kind of equivalent rise in price of the heat pump like maintenance or running costs and should I also solar panels with the heat pump and a battery all in one go. This would all cost a fortune, but would maybe be worth it if the total bills, that would likely rise, came to the same price as paying off a loan. For now I will concentrate on just the heat pump now as I still don’t know much more about them, the app needs to explain more in simple quick terms and explain the most important benefits financially and also the negatives.
