I’m happy with my price estimator now because I can see clearly enough what it would cost and what I should go for. But after using it I am starting to think that it would not be worth getting a heat pump as I am planning on moving house and I am still not sure that it would add enough value to the house. It’s possible though that it could reduce my bills if I was to pay off the loan over a long period. My energy bill is £180 a month, this would save £142 a month and if I was to pay back the loan for a ground source heat pump, then after the grant it would still take 11.5 years to pay off. I probably couldn’t get a loan that could be paid off over 11.5 years, so I think this would actually end up costing more. So next I need to look at what value it would add to the house, which might not be a good thing considering there is some kind of house value tax coming. What would be helpful is a guide to show what each heat pump does and the effectiveness of different quality and brands etc. show images and estimate a value it could add to the house, if any.
